Understanding The Die Casting Process. In the die casting procedure, the mold is put together before starting. The mold, also known as the die, is manufactured up of two or more pieces, depending on how multifaceted the manufactured part wants to be. In the die casting procedure, there are two machines: the cold chamber machines, and the hot chamber machines. In the former, molten material is forced into the die through a “cold” cylinder. The cylinder is preserved with a hydraulic piston that forces the molten material into the mold.
