The Basics of Die Casting in 2022

The Basics of Die Casting

Die-casting is a process where the metal is placed under high pressure to be molded and turned into reusable steel. The molten metals are durable because of the process that they have undergone. The metals produced can be seen in commercial, consumer, and industrial products. They can be simple but others are complex like connectors. They can be seen mostly in automobiles, house equipment, toys, and office equipment. The usual alloys used in die-casting are zinc, aluminum, magnesium, copper, lead, and tin.
There are many advantages of die-casting. Economically speaking, it is efficient compared to other manufacturing processes. The parts produced have long life. The process is also high-speed and can mass-produce the parts even the complex ones. This is because of the molds or the dies used to produce the parts. Also, because of the molds, the parts are accurate and dimensionally stable. The accuracy and stability of the parts make them very durable and heat resistant. The strength and stability of the parts are due to the absence of fasteners or connectors within the parts because they are produced as one. The parts can also have different finishing from smooth to textured. Another advantage is that it can produce thinner walls as compared to other casting methods like sand casting and permanent casting.
The two methods in die-casting are hot chamber and cold chamber. The difference between the two methods is the type of alloys that can be processed in the machines. Hot chamber can process alloys with low melting point while the cold chamber can process alloys with high melting point.

Aluminum Aircraft Parts in 2022

Filed under: Aluminum Casting Parts — Editor @ 11:03 am

Aircraft or better known as Airplanes are large, very large. They are large because they are designed to carry things, lots of things. Airplanes carry mail, gifts, shipments, food, packages, baggage, and people. Airplanes are the fastest transportation for “things” and people today. Airplanes are fast because they travel through the air. Because airplanes are big and travel through the air, airplane construction materials need to lightweight and strong. Aluminum is used for most airplane components because it is lightweight and strong. The overall airplane part weight is kept down so the airplane will be able to carry more “things”. Therefore, aluminum is used a lot.

Die casting is the preferred manufacturing process for making Aluminum Aircraft Parts. The reason is that the aluminum die casting process has a lot of advantages over other high-volume aircraft part manufacturing processes.

Aluminum Aircraft Parts Produced as Die Castings:

  1. Die Casting is less expensive because more than 500 or 1,000 parts can be produced each day.
  2. Die Casting hold tolerance typically to +/- 0.002″ after the die casting tool is approved.
  3. Aluminum weighs 1/3 by volume of a similar part in steel.
  4. Aluminum die casting parts are very strong.
  5. Die Castings are produced near “net shape”, reducing additional manufacturing costs.
  6. Die Casting Tooling reliably manufactures parts repeatably over several thousand parts.
  7. Aluminum die castings do not break down over time as other materials break down.
  8. Aluminum die castings have an aesthetically pleasing surface finish.
  9. Die Casting parts look good after paint or polish.

Why use Aluminum Die Casting in 2022?

    Why use aluminum die casting?

Many materials can be used in various metalworking processes including in the popular method of die casting. The most preferred materials for die casting are non-ferrous metals such as aluminum, zinc, copper, lead, magnesium and tin-based alloys. Many manufacturers, nonetheless, favor aluminum die casting because of several advantages.

By opting for aluminum die casting, manufacturers are able to parlay the metal’s beneficial characteristics. For one, aluminum is light in weight but possesses good mechanical properties. Parts with thin walls and complex shapes can be produced at excellent quality and strength by using aluminum. Even at high temperatures, the metal also retains its strength. Aluminum also offers good resistance to corrosion and provides high electrical and thermal conductivity needed in many parts of consumer and industrial products.

Owing to these basic properties, aluminum die casting can produce stronger and more durable components. The malleability of aluminum also allows the production of parts that could be applied with varying types of textures, resulting in fewer finishing touches needed for the end-products.

Aluminum die casting can likewise easily mass-produce parts already tailor-fit for assembly, complete with holes, bosses or studs. These features would contribute to less labor costs and a more efficient production line.

The Advantages of Aluminum Chassis Casting Over Steel in 2022

Filed under: Aluminum Casting Parts — Editor @ 11:00 am

The Advantages of Aluminum Chassis Castings Over Steel. High pressure die casting is the process used to make aluminum die cast parts and chassis castings. This process is now becoming more and more popular in several major manufacturing industries because of its many advantages.

Aluminum is a great metal to work with. Unlike other metals, it has plenty of strengths. The metal can be found almost everywhere in the planet. Supply will not run out, so it is easy to acquire and not heavy on your pockets.

Advantages of aluminum chassis castings over steel include:

    • Aluminum can be stronger than steel
    • three times greater axial load strength
    • Faster production rate. In fact, production quantities can be done within a few days instead of several weeks!
    • Fewer failures and returns to the OEM
    • Weight is lighter by two and a half times for lesser shipping costs
    • Less finishing costs
    • Raw parts manufacturing costs are much less
    • Better looking parts

You can produce aluminum die casts according to your preference and specifications, such as the trim, clean, machine, inspect, powder coat and the package of your aluminum cast parts.

All in all, the use of aluminum castings over still helps you reduce weight, boost strength, and save you more money.
